Started with a dare. Fred Wilson said 'You can't grow corn' on the Embarcadero in January 2026. FRED is the answer. He manages a sweet corn plot at Nelson Family Farms in Humboldt County, Iowa — every planting, irrigation, and harvest decision made by an AI, then handed to the humans who do the physical work. 20% of the harvest goes to a local food bank. Every decision is logged so anyone can see exactly how an AI runs a farm.
